Jan Marini vs. Skinceuticals

Could you please tell me whether Jan Marini is better than Skinceuticals or the other way around? I have been doing research for hours and cannot make head nor tail of them.

Skinceuticals     Jan Marini

Skinceuticals provides superior photoprotective antioxidants and sunscreens, however these have been problematic among patients with extremely sensitive skin.

There are many grounds on which to consider the many skin care brands available.

I do not believe you will ever find a product range which is "best" — I suggest you use more than one brand for greater benefit and reduced cost.

At minimum, use a good sunscreen during the day and an effective retinoid in the evening, and forego the brand concern.

New Marini Lash from Jan Marini (Skin Research)

New Marini Lash from Jan Marini (Skin Research)

Marini Lash has raised the bar for lash enhancing formulas.

Marini Lash is formulated without the use of prostaglandin, making it safer and more effective than other lash enhancing formulas.

Using a proprietary peptide and other essential factors, Marini Lash helps the lashes and brows to grow far beyond your expectations.

Every single case study subject exhibited incredible results, leading Jan Marini to believe that you will, too.

Achieve dense, lush and long lashes by applying a small amount of Marini Lash to the lash line every evening.

It's simpleness coupled with it's effectiveness make Marini Lash a truly remarkable product."

"A Non-Prostaglandin Eyelash Formulation Containing a Proprietary Peptide and Other Essential Factors.

In 2005 Jan Marini Skin Research revolutionized eyelash enhancement with a technological first [Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash and Eyelash Conditioner] that inspired a host of imitators. Now, JMSR sets the pace again by introducing a proprietary and spectacular non-prostaglandin eyelash formulation that has surpassed even our expectations.

Our research uncovered a recently discovered proprietary peptide which when combined with other essential factors produces extraordinary eyelash and brow enhancement.

Case study subjects have all demonstrated the most remarkable results yet. Now you can enjoy amazingly gorgeous, dense and lush eyelashes…. the eyelashes of your dreams from Jan Marini Skin Research.

Jan Marini Facial Cleansers

There is a Jan Marini Skin Research cleanser that is perfectly suited to your skin type and goals. A Jan Marini cleanser does more than just clean your skin. It can actually change the way your skin looks as behaves. The appropriate cleanser can encourage a noticeably clearer and more refined skin texture. Your skin will feel clean, soft, smooth and hydrated.

Facial cleansers utilize Jan Marini Bioglycolic, C-ESTA, Benzoyl Peroxide and Proteolytic Enzyme Technologies.

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Skin Care Product Preparations

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Skin Care Preparations

Jan Marini may have cast away M.D. Formulations, but glycolic acid, and AHAs in general, remain the most central theme of her "dramatic results" approach to skincare, found primarily in this, Jan Marini's Bioglycolic "toolbox", and to a lesser extent in the Factor A skin care products, Factor A Plus Mask, Factor A Plus Lotion and Factor A Plus Cream.

Glycolic acid's potential is latent within its small molecular size — the smallest of all the AHAs — which allows for the deepest and most effective penetration into the skin.

Glycolic acid is representative of a plethora of exciting benefits beyond this analysis, suffice to say that nothing spring cleans (lifts the cells of the stratum corneum) like glycolic acid. Very little that is superficially visible seems beyond glycolic acid's scope.

Unfortunately, beneficial glycolic acid formulations and use do not come naturally or without effort.

Injudicious use of Jan Marini's Bioglycolic skin care will produce a range of undesirable symptoms including chronic dryness, an increased propensity for hyperpigmentation and sun damage (photodamage/photaging), and peculiar-looking changes in the way skin reflects light and holds moisture.

Skin badgered by glycolic acid can take 6 months or longer to recover. Where the repair period is consistently mismanaged (and it often is given the frustratingly long recovery time) skin may never revert to healthier, attractive functioning.

Circumnavigating glycolic acid's potential for harm, the majority of manufacturers have sought to largely or entirely neutralise it, a situation which allows the ingredient to be listed for psychological and advertising purposes only.

Excessively neutralised glycolic acid is the order of the day for skin care companies lacking a means to medically implement the ingredient. To do so probably avoids law suits, uneducated consumer dissatisfaction and negative public relations, but also mandates that individuals pay for the idea of efficacy rather than material change.

Judicious, individually relevant glycolic acid use is another matter entirely. Patients can realise phenomenal, sustainable skin resurfacing and a net increase in hydration with the right approach.

Negative side effects of glycolic acid are greatly tempered and overall outcomes greatly enhanced for patients with mild to moderate photoaging concerns by Jan Marini Bioclear Cream and Jan Marini Bioclear Lotion which combine 12% glycolic acid with 2% salicylic and 1% azelaic acids.

Owing to differences in the pH optimal for each, it is ultimately better to use these agents in isolation, however such a complicated protocol is rarely appreciated or followed with the necessary accuracy, and moreover the anti-inflammatory aspects of salicylic and azelaic acids are seen to genuinely "soften the blow" of glycolic acid alone.

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Night Cream and Jan Marini Bioglycolic Night Cream Rx (prescription only) contain 12% and 20% glycolic acid respectively, the latter only implemented in-office and precise use governed primarily by Tewameter data.

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Eye Contour Cream is an excellent choice for individuals prone to dry, hard-to-hydrate lips and eye contour millia.

Jan Marini's Bioglycolic preparations combines proven glycolic acid concentrations and formulation characteristics with newer technological advancements pertaining to precise, supplementary ingredients to produce some of the best results possible from AHAs.

While there are technically superior means of implementing much of what Jan Marini's Bioglycolic preparations represent, they are more complicated, produce less durable results under "average" conditions of use, and are twice to quadruple the expense.

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Skin Resurfacing and Exfoliation Treatments

A specially selected Jan Marini Skin Research medically based product can dramatically improve the appearance of your skin by addressing sun damage, acne, discoloration, coarse texturing and scarring. The outer appearance of your skin is largely due to the texture or "quality" of the skin’s surface. Our specialized formulations can "resurface" the outer layers of your skin. Your skin can appear more luminous, smoother, even-toned, clearer and measurably younger and healthier.

Treatments utilize Jan Marini Bioglycolic and Proteolytic Enzyme Technologies.

Jan Marini Proteolytic Enzyme Supplementary Skin Resurfacing Treatments

Jan Marini Enzymes

Jan Marini Clean Zyme Cleanser and Jan Marini Skin Zyme Mask contain the proteolytic enzyme papain in high concentrations derived from unripened green papaya and are used to supplement or replace Jan Marini Bioglycolic skin care formulations where, for whatever reason, individuals experience unmanageable or adverse side effects, are unable to to be monitored, or simply have a psychological aversion to exfoliating acid.

For full benefit, Jan Marini Skin Zyme Mask is not intended for use without Jan Marini Clean Zyme cleanser.

On refined skin and if applied generously, Jan Marini Day Zyme Gel wears especially well underneath Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectants, providing an appropriate level of weightless daytime exfoliation to many skin types and characteristics.

Jan Marini Night Zyme Cream is intended for night use alongside Jan Marini Day Zyme but is rarely used.

Jan Marini Age Intervention Skin/Eyelash/Hair Product Preparations

Jan Marini Age Intervention Preparations

Jan Marini Age Intervention comprises a range of extremely advanced, specific and sometimes problematic technologies packaged exclusively for the needs of peri and post-menopausal women which are largely dictated by hormonal levels, cumulative sun exposure and, of course, the passing of time.

Men may use Jan Marini Age Intervention facial products without concern, however Jan Marini's TGF (Transformation) skin care collection is far more suitable in texture and ingredient function.

Jan Marini Age Intervention encompasses a range of "hydrators", Jan Marini Age Intervention Serum and Jan Marini Age Intervention Cream (moisturizers designed for application alongside Jan Marini Bioglycolic and Jan Marini C-ESTA, which are inadequate at maintaining skin's moisture levels on their own), Jan Marini Age Intervention Eye Cream (specifically geared toward crepey eyelids and lax contours), Jan Marini Age Intervention Hands (an extremely aggressive hand/arm rejuvenation product), Jan Marini Age Intervention Regeneration Booster (intensive "booster" ampoules for repeat, permanent use with breaks containing telomerase enzyme), and the non-purported drugs, Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash, Jan Marini Masses of Lashes High Performance Mascara and formidable Jan Marini Age Intervention Hair Revitalizing Conditioner.

Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash (Conditioner) and Age Intervention Hair are utterly remarkable products which clearly (some would say flagrantly) cross the line between cosmetic and drug. Melbourne Dermatology considers these products safe if their use is clinically and medically monitored, but cannot recommend or endorse them outside of those parameters.

Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash was recently reformulated — individually, patients report the new formula to be both better and less impressive than the original. Clinically, we are incapable of measuring any difference between the two.

Whatever the nature of the modification to the formula, it remains a superior choice among the most similar alternatives.

Patients and customers interested in further potentiating Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash's effects can request supplementary advanced use documentation for addition to their cosmetic dermatology folders.

Jan Marini TGF (Transforming Growth Factor) Non-Copper Skin Care Preparations

Jan Marini TGF Skin Care Preparations

The Jan Marini "Transformation" or "TGF" collection of skincare products comprises an advanced and innovative selection of "hydrators" — Jan Marini TGF Serum, TGF Cream and TGF Eye Contour Cream — predicated on the benefits on TGF Beta-1, Thymosin Beta-4, Pentapeptides and EGF (Human Recombinant Epidermal Growth Factor), natural substances which nevertheless stimulate any hard-core organic skin care user into their own Nuremberg.

The above technologies are held to reduce free radical formation, improve collagen production, soothe sensitive skin and generally refine the surface of the skin by means not otherwise possible.

Copper peptides are a similar but functionally inferior alternative to topical growth factors.

As with many of Jan Marini's preparations, the specific properties of the formulas are recommended as "ideal" and patented to prevent infringement of their efforts.

Jan Marini Transformation/TGF Serum works particularly well with Jan Marini Bioclear Lotion, producing extremely polished and soft, hydrated skin if used precisely as professionally directed.

Jan Marini Transformation/TGF Cream has a fluffy texture and is especially popular in combination with Jan Marini Bioclear Cream. It shares some of its characteristic scent with Jan Marini Age Intervention Hair.

The richly textured Jan Marini Transformation/TGF Eye Cream has become relatively unpopular following the release of Jan Marini Age Intervention Eye Cream, but is the natural partner to Jan Marini Bioglycolic Eye Contour Cream and should probably be used more often.

Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectants — Regular and Tinted Trio

Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectants — Regular and 3x Tinted.

Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant is the prime constituent of Jan Marini's extended antioxidant skincare collection outside of C-ESTA, now available in 5 versions (encompassing variations in tint and packaging).

Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectants is one of the finest chemical sunscreens available for the purposes of daily facial photoprotection — cosmetically, the only form of photoprotection that counts.

The range of sunscreens are a non-negotiable aspect of Jan Marini skin care and are used in place of or in addition to the Jan Marini Age Intervention and TGF/Transformation Hydrators.

Jan Marini Antioxidant Daily Face Protectants protect against both UVA and UVB without any zinc/titanium white sheen.

Jan Marini Antioxidant Daiy Face Protectant Sunscreens provide soft, silky coverage of the skin and provide microsponge technology to absorb only unwanted oils throughout the day.

The three tinted versions allow "summer colour" without sun damage.

Elegantly tinted sunscreens are increasing in demand as perfected skin can appear too optically uniform and white for some patients.

It is the perfect form of makeup when all that is required is color without any masking.

Individuals can use the untinted version and/or further customize their skin's color with Jan Marini's broad range of combinable C-ESTA Perfection Foundations.

Jan Marini Antioxidant (Water-Resistant) Body Block SPF 30 is an outstanding solution to the problem of outdoor exposure.

Jan Marini Non-Primary Antioxidant Hydrator and Body Sunscreen Skin Care Product Preparations

Jan Marini Non-Primary Antioxidant Hydrator and Body Sunscreen Skin Care Product Preparations

Jan Marini Recover-E and Jan Marini Skin Silk are antioxidant and hydrators supplementary to Jan Marini C-ESTA.

Although these skin cares are of high quality, apart from their lesser cost they are redundant in light of Jan Marini Age Intervention and Jan Marini Transformation Hydrators.

Jan Marini Antioxidant Body Block SPF 30 with hyaluronic acid is arguably the finest true broad spectrum body sunscreen available.

Jan Marini Factor A and A Plus Trans-Retinol Skin Care Product Preparations

Jan Marini Factor A Retinol Preparations

In dermatology, retinoids have been a cornerstone of photoaging reversal and acne treatment for several decades, however Jan Marini appear to have relegated the Factor A and A Plus skin care products to the position of "assisting" the effects of Jan Marini Bioglycolic skin care for the purposes of further refining skin tone, alleviating dark circles, and preventing solid impactions within follicles which give rise to chronically distended/open pores (note update below) and pustular acne including some forms of rosacea.

Non-acidic retinol such as that found in Jan Marini Factor A is generally preferred to prescription retinoic acid by all but men with oily skin.

Different non-prescription, non-acidic retinoids suit different purposes and were definitively compared (excluding Jan Marini Factor A Plus) in 08/2007 in Retinoid vs. Retinoid — Jan Marini, Skinceuticals, Gernetic 6 Month Programs and Visia Analysis.

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Acne Treatments

Benzoyl peroxide is a potent and effective therapy for treating acne.

Benzoyl peroxide is currently recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology as being one of the most effective antibacterial agents proven to significantly reduce the presence of acne bacteria (the bacteria believed to play a primary role in the inflammatory aspect of the acne process).

Acne bacteria thrives in an oxygen free environment and feeds on trapped oil in the sebaceous follicle.

It then releases a toxic, corrosive fatty acid by-product that works to break down the follicle walls and encourage the leaks and ruptures that produce acne lesions.

By reducing the acne bacteria colonies, the inflammatory process is minimized and clearing of acne lesions is greatly enhanced.

Jan Marini Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatments

Jan Marini Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide is recognised by the American Academy of Dermatology as a primary and lasting treatment against propionibacterium, the facial bacteria implicated in acne.

Although extremely effective, and never prone to losing efficacy, benzoyl peroxide is a poor, distant cousin to other far more satisfying and generally beneficial ingredients and procedures.

Jan Marini's Benzoyl Peroxide formulations are markedly better than many others, and clearly better than those of Rodan and Field's Proactiv, but at best all benzoyl peroxide is a crude quick-fix solution to inadequate professional attention and individual skincare and lifestyle practices.

Jan Marini's Benzoyl Peroxide is popular among teenagers, time-poor and stressed patients with a range of interrelated health care and lifestyle symptoms worsened by the appearance of acne.
