Jan Marini Benzoyl Peroxide Wash 2.5% – Teenage Acne

Jan Marini Skin Research Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% Wash is a therapeutically effective anti-bacterial cleanser for the treatment of acne and acne prone skin. Benzoyl peroxide is recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology to significantly reduce the presence of P acne bacteria (the bacteria believed to play a primary role in the inflammatory aspect of the acne process).

Benzoyl Peroxide Wash assists in thoroughly removing sebum and cellular debris, de-congesting blocked pores without stripping or excessive dryness. Oily skinned individuals will appreciate it's deep cleaning action that leaves the skin feeling not only scrupulously clean, but soft and smooth.

Jan Marini Juvenile Acne Treatment with Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide is a potent and effective therapy for treating acne.

It is currently recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology as being one of the most effective antibacterial agents proven to significantly reduce the presence of P acne bacteria (the bacteria believed to play a primary role in the inflammatory aspect of the acne process).

P acne bacteria thrive in an oxygen free environment and feed on trapped oil in the sebaceous follicle.

It then releases a toxic, corrosive, fatty acid by-product that works to break down the follicle walls, encouraging the leaks and ruptures that produce acne lesions.

By reducing the P acne bacteria colonies, the inflammatory process is minimized and clearing of acne lesions is greatly enhanced.

Comparing Jan Marini Benzoyl Peroxide with Proactiv

Are your products [Jan Marini] similar to "Pro Activ" ?

Proactiv is a small range of products based solely on very low dose benzoyl peroxide, particularly effective in managing juvenile acne.

Benzoyl peroxide has a good and long history of efficacy in the treatment of acne, however some formulas are markedly more effective than others. Inactive ingredients formulated alongside the active ingredient of benzoyl peroxide can hamper its effectiveness.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration regulates the concentration of benzoyl peroxide available in products available through different channels (television, supermarkets, department stores, chemists, prescription and so on).

Similarly the mechanics of the skin care marketplace also effectively ensure that the less trained or accountable the sales channel, the less therapeutic the supplied product will be.

Jan Marini Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatments are higher strength treatments in micronised bases not available without expert prescription. Micronized benzoyl peroxide penetrates better and poses less risk of secondary irritation than the same presented in a less refined base.

Like Proactiv, the Jan Marini Treatments serve to oxidize irritating fatty acids from the follicles, helping to clear infection and limit the possibility of acne scarring.

The mechanism of action is simple.

Acne bacteria cannot survive in the presence of oxygen. Benzoyl peroxide formulas release free radical oxygen molecules into the follicles.

Unfortunately about 10% of people are unable to use benzoyl peroxide on an ongoing basis and the treatment may even accelerate skin aging.

Benzoyl peroxide is nevertheless a good short-term treatment for acne sufferers in need of rapid relief.

A better approach is to keep the skin free of the compacted dead cell build up that allows acne bacteria to flourish just under the surface, unexposed to oxygen in the environment.

This approach is also effective on skin scarred or discoloured by acne.

A preferable juvenile acne treatment/management regime is as follows:
