Jan Marini Enzyme Therapy: Supplemental ExfoliationTweetProteolytic enzymes like papain are among the most scientifically sensible and effective methods to accomplish supplemental exfoliation at home. Simply defined, the term "proteolytic" refers to an enzymatic reaction that can digest dead or diseased protein material without harming living healthy cells. Unlike abrasive scrubs or other mechanical methods, proteolytic enzymes are selective and extremely unlikely to cause irritation from pressure or over manipulation. A commonly used proteolytic enzyme is papain, often found in tropical fruits such as papaya. The most potent form of papain exists in green unripened papaya and is also an excellent free-radical scavenger and topical cellular renewal agent. As the papaya ripens, the enzyme activity declines considerably. In fact, papain found in green unripened papaya can be 50 to 100 times stronger than other forms of papain because it loses effect upon transformation into fructose. Jan Marini Skin Research has located and utilized the only available processing source for this sensitive technology. Other "enzymatic exfoliants" exist, but they don't contain substantially active enzymes. Jan Marini Clean Zyme Cleanser, Skin Zyme Mask, Day Zyme Gel and Night Zyme Cream (also suitable for day use by patients with dry skin) offer incredible benefits when used in tandem with a skin care management system. Not only does enzymatic exfoliation therapy greatly accelerate and enhance other skin resurfacing agents, but studies show that new cell formation, collagen stimulation and antioxidant capabilities are all benefits of continued use. Users will see immediate and continuing measurable improvement in skin texture, clarity and firmness. In addition, those who may experience temporary dryness or flaking from glycolic acid, Retin-A™, or acne medication will find that this annoyance can virtually be eliminated. Jan Marini Skin Research recommends Clean Zyme and Skin Zyme as the definitive home exfoliator, and as an adjunct to clinical procedures.
