La Roche-Posay Effaclar

La Roche-Posay Effaclar

Effaclar is a soothing, purifying and mattifying collection of daily skin care treatments from La Roche-Posay formulated for combination, oily, acne-prone skin and to eliminate shine, blackheads and whiteheads.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar formulas remove excess oils and clear clogged pores without stripping skin of its natural hydration or leaving it dull, tight or itchy.

Effaclar skin care products soften thickened, oily skin to enhance acne treatment, avoiding the potential of alpha hydroxy acids to harden the skin, leaving it brittle and unresponsive due to dehydration.

The efficacy of La Roche-Posay Effaclar is due in part to several proprietary ingredients and technologies:

La Roche Posay Effaclar Active Matte provides photoprotective and general antioxidant protection through the inclusion of tocopherol (pure Vitamin E) and ascorbyl glucoside (a Vitamin C derivative). These antioxidants help protect the skin from the effects of external aggressors that can worsen oily skin.

Ascorbyl glucoside also helps lessen post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation to lighten skin tone and stimulate collagen production for firmer skin with a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

La Roche-Posay Eau Thermale is included for its antioxidant selenium and anti-inflammatory, soothing and healing minerals (see composition).

A clinical study into the efficacy of La Roche-Posay Effaclar K demonstrated an 86% reduction in microcomedones within 14 days of use (Keratolytic effecacy of Effaclar K as a monotherapy. PR. Pierard Liege Belgium. Published in European Journal of Dermatology. Vol. 13, N 1. Jan-Feb. 2003).

Relatively few products contain bioavailable zinc, an important antioxidant for skin, however a high concentration of absorbable zinc is found in several La Roche-Posay Effaclar formulas.
